Outfit Ideas from the Real Wardrobe in Lovely Princess

Despite the name, Dress Up the Lovely Princess has no ball gowns or tiaras. The wardrobe is everyday clothes: dresses, tops, skirts and trousers hanging in a pink bedroom. This guide covers only the first step, the clothes, because that is where most of the choices are.

How the clothes step works

When you press Play, the girl stands next to an open wardrobe. Four small buttons beside the main step icons switch the rail between dresses, tops, skirts and trousers. Tap a piece on the rail and she wears it at once. The green arrow to go on only appears after you have picked something.

The rails hold 34 pieces in all. The game's own item list (note.json in the build) has 10 dresses, 8 tops, 7 skirts and 9 pairs of trousers, and those numbers match what hangs in the wardrobe.

A dress or separates

A dress replaces everything. A top is different: when we picked a top over a dress, she got the top with a skirt underneath, and choosing trousers then swapped the skirt for the trousers. Going back to the dress rail did not undo it. So you have two routes:

• One piece: pick a dress and move on.
• Separates: pick a top, then a skirt or a pair of trousers.

Six outfits to try

1. Black and roses: the black dress with the pink rose print. Black goes with almost any bag on the bag shelf.
2. Sunny day: the yellow off-shoulder dress. Pick warm hair later, orange or blonde, and keep the jewellery small.
3. School-day separates: a striped top with the light jeans. A brown bag and boots in the later steps finish it.
4. All pink: the pink ruffle top with the pink tulle skirt. It is the loudest outfit in the wardrobe, so pick a plain bag.
5. Denim on denim: the denim pinafore dress. It sits well next to the blue-haired styles in the hair step.
6. Dark and simple: any top with the shiny navy trousers. Dark trousers make the shoe and bag steps easy, because nearly everything matches.

Does the outfit change the score?

Yes, a little. At the end the game gives each of its six steps a number in a heart, and clothes is the first heart. Every item has a fixed value stored in the build, so the same choices gave the same hearts when we played twice. The game does not tell you which pieces score well, so pick what you like first and treat the number as a bonus.
